:: Info

Nearly lost in the shadow of the mighty 917, Porsche’s hard-working 908 did the heavy lifting wearing an array of bodywork, winning Porsche its first World Sports Car Championship.

When the official word came from the FIA the Group 6 prototypes would be permitted a maximum three-liter displacement, Ferdinand Piech and Hans Metzger made Porsche’s first "big" eight-cylinder engine. The first 908 was a clean coupe with strong 907 styling and engineering DNA and it won the first time out at the daunting Nürburgring. It flattered only to deceive, temporarily.

Other versions: 1970 - Porsche 908/3 & 1970 - Porsche 908 Kurzheck.
